Cedar is the most popular tree in Lebanon and the Cedars forest is the most famous particularly the Lord Cedars forest at the foot of the Makmel Mountain. It is an eternal forest with about 12 trees of more than 500 years. To go hiking in the forest, you shall pay a symbolic contribution for the maintenance of the forest. For more than an hour, the adventurer crosses about 3 Km to go to the Lamartine square where the thunder bolted trees are sculpted stunningly to form the biggest plant sculpture in the world.

The 103 000 square meters forest is surrounded with a fence dating back to Roustom Bacha's time in 1877. There are many cedars as for example lovers' cedar, two trees growing close to each other with their branches entangled forming one sole cedar tree.
